Environment is one of the most important treasures in Costa Rica, for that reason we do our best for the implementation of green building practices and sustainable models of natural, cultural and social resource management.

HotelAt Mediterraneus Hotel, we have considered environmentally friendly designs and technology deployment, keeping in mind the water efficiency, energy and atmosphere.

Some of our efforts include:

* Modern Sewage Treatment Plant
* Containers for garbage selection at the hotel and nearby beaches and villages.
* Efficient solar panels system to collects & converts solar energy into electricity or heat
* Automation: New home system (door keys, in-house lights), even security, upon request for a centralized management center.
* Safety: For you and surrounding nature.
* All lighting underground
* Pioneers in Costa Rica, of new water sources conservation process and practices
* Recycling water system for gardens.
This is why we have state of the art technology to prevent harm to nature.

Drip Irrigation
Currently 70% of the water is for agricultural irrigation, 23% for industry and 7 % for domestic use. 60% of this is wasted!!
We are affecting environment at an alarming rate, at least 2000 of the world’s freshwater fish are either endangered or extinct.
Hotel Mediterranius uses Drip Irrigation for the whole hotel. It has 90% efficiency versus the sprinkler method which only has 75%.
