Potrero beach, Guanacaste Costa rica, Pacific Coast

Local attractions and nearby beaches around Hotel Mediterraneus

Potrero Beach
stretches several miles between the towns of Flamingo and Potrero. Situated on the northwest Pacific coast in Guanacaste province, Potrero Beach is one of the most accessible, beach destinations in Costa Rica. Penca, Sugar Beach and Danta & Dantita are secluded beautiful beaches located with clear sands, relatively rough waves and easy access.MAP

Today, areas like Tamarindo Beach are also becoming increasingly popular and little fishing villages are exploding all over the place, with more and more foreigners wanting to move here to find a piece of paradise. The beaches in the North Pacific Coast are some of the most beautiful beaches in the entire country. They are vast and always sunny, with endless coves and pristine shorelines just a short walk away from one another. Some of these areas are quickly being developed with luxury resorts, while others are still small fishing villages just waiting to be discovered.

You can check the nightlife at Tamarindo, El Coco or Flamingo. Flamingo beach is just 3 miles away, on a fairly good road.

At Flamingo Beach you´ll find restaurants, bars, supermarkets, and a marina. It’s more developed than Potrero Beach, but at the same time more crowded. Since it’s really close, you´ll get a chance of enjoying the nightlife, and at the end of the night sleeping on our secluded paradise.

Tamarindo Beach is about 15 miles away, like a 30 minute drive. Tamarindo beach is formed by a cape, which includes Playa Langosta, Playa grande and Tamarindo. Playa Grande and Playa Langosta are protected nesting areas for the giant leatherback turtle, from October to March. It has great sportfishing, surfing and scuba diving.

El Coco beach is the same distance as Tamarindo Beach, but north (Tamarindo is south of Potrero Beach). It´s one of the best spots for Scuba Diving, just 30 minutes away from Catalinas and Bat Islands. It’s one of the few places were many species that are extremely hard to find elsewhere are abundant.
